Alan, upon first seeing Zanes book in the house at Cauldron Lake, used that name as a basis for a character to make the story interesting. Zane is a writing device to give Alan a fighting chance - and hence making an interesting story for the Anyhow I’m sure Alan Wake 2 will continue to focus on the dark vs light aspect that’s central to the theme of the game. But something they added in the two DLC that I thought was a good improvement over the base game was the appearance of floating words in the environment, that Alan could use to essentially summon something into existence. AlanWake is a masterpiece. For some reason I didn't expect it to be a horror game at all but more like a standard atmospheric detective story, nonetheless it wound up to be both and miraculously managed to excel in either direction.
